McCain on Letterman
He's pro-life, corporatist, anti-gay rights, and has all the rest of the standard Republican problems, but this is a good example of why I like John McCain better than his rivals:
Yeah, Huckabee is a very charming, witty guy. He's also smart enough to know how to use his sense of humor to dodge questions he doesn't want to answer, like how ht got around a debate question about whether or not Jesus would approve of the death penalty by joking, "Jesus would be too smart to run for office." Everyone laughed and he got to dodge the issue of the contradiction of being simultaneously pro-life and pro-executions.
However, I don't think Huckabee would ever go for Letterman's brand of subtle absurdity, as McCain has here, which takes a certain mental flexibility to get the joke. If Mitt Romney was asked to take part in a bit like this, I can only see him looking confused.
Giuliani was funny back in the day but nowadays it just feels like he is and was an attention whore. But yeah, most of the time politician's deliveries are pathetic.

Did you see Huckabee on Colbert? Would never vote for either one, but they both have a sense of humor...

you're a comedicist.
You an tell McCain gets it because he delivers it just right. It's not like a bad celebrity Top 10 reading.
Then again, I used to like Rudy when he was still mayor for showing up on SNL in a dress, but I got over him and now I wish he'd go away.
You're right about Romney though. I think a gear would pop in the machinery somewhere.
Dan: that's probably unfortunate.

Always fun to have far left liberals comment on conservatives.
That's a stupid comment. Come back when you have something interesting to say.
